Henne Couple Engagement Story: Joe & Elyssa

Congrats to Joe and Elyssa on their engagement!

How they met: Joe and Elyssa met on Bumble at the end of April 2021. They connected throughout the weekend and discussed meeting each other. Both Joe and Elyssa had dates planned with other people on the day that they really started talking. After their prospective dates were over, they decided to meet up at Primanti’s, and the rest is history!

The Big Moment: Fast forward to 2023, nearly 2 years to the day of their first meeting, Joe asked Elyssa if she wanted to go to the Grand Concourse for Sunday brunch. So on Sunday 4/30/23, they headed to Station Square. Joe had mentioned that he wanted to ride the Incline first. When they reached the top of the Incline and got off, Joe asked if she wanted to walk to the Overlook to look at the Pittsburgh city skyline. They reached the first overlook spot, where a group of people were already there taking graduation photos. One of the girls in the group asked if she would mind taking a group photo for them. So she did, and then Joe asked if they could take a photo of them in return. They had finished taking photos of the group. Joe handed his phone over to the girl and she took their picture. Joe then said, "one more, if that's okay" and motioned Elyssa to get to his right. The next moments were a blur, but Elyssa remembers Joe reaching into his coat pocket and pulling a green Henne box out!

Future plans: Joe and Elyssa don’t have definitive wedding plans yet but hope to have a small ceremony in the Fall of 2024 with their closest family and friends.
