They're both from Pittsburgh, but fate brought Christopher and Lauren together in Washington, D.C. The attraction grew despite the distance, and their love brought them both back home. Christopher asked Lauren to spend forever with him with a meaningful Christmas ornament that reflects their family and their identities.
How They Met:
Christopher and Lauren met while Lauren was living near Washington, D.C., although both are from the Pittsburgh area. (Christopher was visiting one of his best friends at the time.) They began texting and emailing for a few months, and Christopher planned a trip to come back to D.C. to visit Lauren and have their first date -- which consisted of eating cheeseburgers at a popular restaurant, visiting a winery, and grilling out with friends in Pentagon City.
As you would expect, both had a wonderful time and made plans to hang out again. For their second date, Lauren drove back to Pittsburgh to hang out with Christopher. They dated long-distance for a few months, and eventually Lauren made the decision to move back home to Pittsburgh (something she always wanted to do, but meeting Christopher helped her to make that choice sooner).
The proposal:
In December 2017, Christopher and Lauren had just gotten home from a date night visiting the Frick Mansion. They were sitting on the couch in front of the Christmas tree. Christopher told her to look at the tree because there was a new ornament on it. There she saw a hand-crafted wooden ornament with a copper tag on it that read, "Will You Marry Me?"
Lauren couldn't believe her eyes. Christopher opened the wooden ornament, and sitting inside was the ring. Of course she said yes, and Lauren says she will never forget the happiness and joy she felt during that moment.
Christopher's proposal was especially sentimental because the wood is a representation of her family's lumber company that was built and ran by her grandfather, father, and uncle. The copper tag represented Christopher's career, where he is a key account manager for a bronze company.
Looking ahead:
Christopher and Lauren will be getting married in November 2018, and they couldn't be more excited to share their special day with loved ones.
