The History of Henne Jewelers

John and Meg

Founded in 1887 by Rudolph Joseph Henne, the owner's reputation as a
superior watch repairman helped the business to prosper and grow
throughout the early part of the Twentieth Century.

In 1934, Rudolph Gerard Henne inherited the business from his father. Keeping the business afloat through both the Great Depression and World War II proved challenging, but, despite some tough times, Rudolph kept the business going and passed it on to his son, John (Jack) Henne in 1975.

In 1978, Jack moved the store from its original location in Pittsburgh's East Liberty section to the fashionable Shadyside neighborhood. As the business grew, so did the need for additional space and, in 2003, Henne Jewelers moved into its current 3500 sq. ft. retail showroom at 5501 Walnut Street.

Today, fourth generation Henne family members, siblings John Henne
and Meg Henne Gibson manage all business operations, aided by their parents,
Jack and Nancy Henne who continue to take an active role.

Just as in 1887, customers today are reassured to know that when they walk
through the doors of Henne Jewelers, a Henne family member will be there,
ready to help and advise.
