The History of Henne Jewelers
Founded in 1887 by Rudolph Joseph Henne, the owner's reputation as a In 1934, Rudolph Gerard Henne inherited the business from his father. Keeping the business afloat through both the Great Depression and World War II proved challenging, but, despite some tough times, Rudolph kept the business going and passed it on to his son, John (Jack) Henne in 1975. In 1978, Jack moved the store from its original location in Pittsburgh's East Liberty section to the fashionable Shadyside neighborhood. As the business grew, so did the need for additional space and, in 2003, Henne Jewelers moved into its current 3500 sq. ft. retail showroom at 5501 Walnut Street.
